Kuyeutam Mausoleum

Location: Karakiyan district, Mangistau region, 40 kilometres to the north-west from Senek village. 

Coordinates: N 43°33' 47.38" , E 53°22' 46.58" .  

Description of the Monument: The monument was identified by specialists of Mangistau National Historical and Cultural Reserve in 2004. It was included in the preliminary list of objects of historical and cultural heritage of Mangistau region. Kuyeutam Mausoleum is a semi-square structure surfaced with worked plates. Walls are drawn with images of palms and hand prints, various animals, swords and daggers. A large part of the north-eastern part of the monument at the necropolis is covered with sand. These are low ferts and bestasses - five-level plates. Beltasses and belgitasses are set in stone heaps and marked with tamga. On the outer wall expert in Arab studies Murat Akmyrzayev deciphered the following writing: 'This inscription is written by Mullah Yesstekuly Mendibay'. Historian and ethnographer Nurlan Kulbayev deciphered an Arabic writing: 'Bismi Ali...'.

Historical Data, Legends and Stories: According to the local legends a man buried here was the son-in-law of Holy  Shopan Ata. This is the first place of pilgrimage on the way to Shopan Ata necropolis.
